The University City Science Center’s educational initiative for middle school and high school students across Philadelphia needed a new name and website to excite students about participating in their STEAM programming. We created the identity for FirstHand, because nothing is more impactful for students than a firsthand learning experience.

Brand Anthem Video Voiceover:
When I put on a lab coat, I feel like a scientist. I feel like I’m learning things that will help shape my future. I feel like I’m making a difference.
FirstHand is a free program for middle and high school youth, like me, at the Science Center, a nonprofit right here in Philadelphia.
At FirstHand, we explore science. We design and build things. We do hands-on projects for the real world, not a classroom. We get to work in an actual lab, where we use cool stuff, learn about scientists, and explore future jobs. In the lab, we experiment, design, and discover—just like scientists. Our teachers even get to learn too, so they can bring hands-on lessons back to our classrooms.
FirstHand lets us be curious, ask questions, create new ideas, and shape our future.
